Among the indications of religious cultural development is the level of attention devoted to knowledge and the means for its dissemination. The advent of new information technologies has provided new strategies for religious for religious institutions to embark on efforts to further religiosity and helps promote the advancement of religious studies. Thus, the extent and method of dissemination of information are of great consequence to the prevalent culture of the Islamic society as a whole and the specialized culture of the religious scholars and researchers.

At a time when the instantaneous transmission of information has linked together the entire planet and prepared the groundwork for the infiltration of grandiloquent and pretentious cultures, the need for publication of Islamic sources of information is being felt with ever increasing urgency. This, on one hand, will serve as a step toward the introduction of the rich Islamic culture and its protection against cultural attacks and, on the other hand, will propound Islam as a logical and intellectual system.

Iran, as one of the Muslim world’s cultural poles, is a major center for the publication of Islamic books. “Islamic Books Quarterly” has taken up the task of introducing these books to researchers in Iran and throughout the world. The project has benefited from the past efforts in the area of providing information on Islamic both in the West and in the Muslim world and aims at improving on those efforts. The Quarterly will contain information on the Iranian sources published in different languages, and will be available in book form and CD-ROM, in addition to being posted on the Internet large groups of experts in the areas of bibliography and abstract-writing are involved in the production of this Quarterly, which in turn make the contents to be of a more precise and specialized nature. Thus, the collection’s scientific level is higher than similar effects in this area.

In line with the project’s goal of reaching a global audience, the publishers have also enlisted the assistance of teams experienced Arabic and English translators. The result is a trilingual Quarterly in Farsi, Arabic, and English.
