Abstract

The book is a study of the disease of obsession and discusses its roots and causes, factors of its growth and persistence, and methods for its cure. The introduction discusses the mind-body relation, Satan or Iblis, baseless obsessions, and political obsessions. Part 1 is devoted to the definition, types, and stages of obsession and its origin from psychology's point of view. It also mentions issues such as understanding the conditions of the times, moderation and heresy, Satan's role in obsession, the role of angels in preventing obsession, and the method of the Infallible Imams (`a) for resisting it. Part 2, entitled, the Growth of Obsession, mainly discusses the grounds for the growth of obsession among religious people and includes obsession in the following matters: purity, prayer and fasting, marriage, wedding one's daughter, and n?yyat (intention).
